VANS x LOCKWOOD Skate Pro collaboration release Saturday the 8th of September (08/09/2018)
For the very first time in history, Vans worked with a Belgian shop for the design of their shoes: the VANS x LOCKWOOD Skate Pro Sk8-Mid and Authentic.
Both shoes will be exclusively for sale at Lockwood in Antwerp and a handful of befriended skate shops in Europe.
- We at LOCKWOOD skate shop are very proud to present the GLOBALLY EXCLUSIVE release of the ‘VANS x LOCKWOOD Skate Pro’ shoes, a collaboration with iconic skateboarding brand Vans.
- LOCKWOOD is the first ever Belgian brand to release a collaboration with Vans.
- The VANS x LOCKWOOD Skate Pro SK8-Mid and Skate Pro Authentic will be exclusively released in Europe at 8 premium skate shops on September the 15th with a pre-launch at our LOCKWOOD skate shop on Saturday the 8th of September.
Sven Aerts: “In skateboarding history, Lockwood Avenue Elementary School (Los Angeles) is a place of myth, and it's left enough of an impression on me to make my skate shop its namesake in 1996”.
A little over twenty years later, Lockwood and Vans are proud to present a special collaboration release of the Skate Pro Sk8-Mid and Authentic models honoring this legendary spot and all it embodies: Raw, urban grit. Finding, scoping and claiming new spots, jumping fences, trespassing… the outlaw spirit of skateboarding.
“To break the shoes in, we took energetic Lockwood and Vans Europe team rider Yeelen Moens on a nostalgic trip to (re)discover Los Angeles’ most infamous school grounds. Two generations of Lockwood riders, taking two unique Vans Pro Skate shoe models back to their source of inspiration. Lockwood goes Lockwood.”
Off The Wall, and over the fence once again.
“Both shoes were designed by Antwerp based graphic designer Ben Boliau and feature a distinct Skydiver Blue and Silver Sconce colorway inspired by the city of Los Angeles. A repeating chain link fence pattern with subtle drop shadow echoes the trademark Vans Waffle sole and directly references the iconic Lockwood Elementary school grounds (and the fence you have to climb to access them)”.
“Next to the in-store release of the shoes, Saturday September 8 sees the VIDEO PREMIERE of the accompanying ‘Lockwood goes Lockwood’ feature that Willy Crank shot on our trip. Additionally, an expo of the work shot by Antwerp photographer Abel Kleinblatt during the same trip will be shown. To round things off, an exclusive ‘ZINE print publication documenting our crew’s adventures in The City of Angels will be made available”.
